Thank you Daniella family and friends,

I’m beyond excited to announce that we have reached a goal of $3500 because of your generous donations we were able to give 14 queer you a very special holiday season this year.

I also want to give a special thank you to Indya Moore who made a very generous donation and Casa Ruby Inc. for partnering with us and helping make sure that this event was possible.

I hope that this holiday season brings you much love and joy and until the next holiday wishing you all nothing but the best

Daniella is raising funds and collecting gifts for 14 LGBTQIA+ youth currently in Graham’s care. The money raised will help her get e-gift cards for new clothes, shoes, essentials, and other holiday gifts.

The money raised will also help with transportation fees on the day of distribution. This will help to minimize as much hand to hand contact as possible given the current state of the Covid pandemic. Our goal is to raise at least $250 for each youth for a total of $3,500.

Daniella and Friends Holiday Drive was created by LGBTQIA+ Advocate, Producer, and Co- Founder of Daniella GuestBook, Daniella Carter. You may have seen Daniella sharing her experience about growing up in the foster care system and the many challenges she endured during her time in care ranging from sexual abuse, homelessness, and survival on TEDX, Laverne Cox's Presents the T Word, Robin Roberts Thriver Thursday Series and many other platforms. Daniella is a passionate, supportive, caring, and tireless worker and human being.

The fact that she has overcome so many obstacles and hurdles only makes her success that much more significant. As a black trans woman, she made it through the perils of the New York City foster care system to find her community and the strength and support that it provides. Because she realized that the help she received was life-saving, Daniella took up the mantle to become an activist and advocate for those in her community that need support in the same way that she did and still does. Carter recently worked with a local NYC mutual aid organization handing out Turkeys and food packages to the seniors and disabled in the NYCHA community in downtown Brooklyn this past Thanksgiving. That experience inspired her to want to do something similar for LBGTQIA+ youth in care during the holiday season. With the help of Daniella Family & Friends she hopes to provide gifts to these youth currently in the Foster care system.

This year, Daniella has partnered with Graham Windham, the agency she was placed with as a youth. Graham has pioneered programs for New York City’s children, families and communities since 1806 providing youth and family programs at 11 community-based sites in Harlem, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Services include family foster care, adoption, foster care prevention through family strengthening, mental and behavioral health care, parenting supports, afterschool programs, and youth development.
